7. USE OF COOKIES ON THE WEBSITE

What are cookies and why are they used?

Cookies are small text files that represent small data blocks sent to a specified domain each time a user makes a request to that domain when visiting websites. Cookies can act as a memory for the website, allowing it to recognize the computer on subsequent visits. In addition to helping the website remember user preferences and customize ads to suit user preferences, the browser can also remember the user’s username and password if cookies are allowed.

Types of cookies

Cookies can be either permanent or temporary. A temporary cookie disappears automatically when the user closes their browser, while a permanent cookie remains on the computer for a longer period. Temporary cookies allow the user to log in to the website, add products to the virtual shopping cart in an online store, change the website language, or personalize the website in other ways. Cookies can also be used to remember preferences from previous visits. For example, when logging in, there may be an option to “remember me,” which, when selected, sends the user both a temporary cookie and a permanent cookie containing account identification information. This cookie remains, and upon returning to the same website later, the website will recognize the user and automatically log them in.

Cookies from service providers

– Google cookies: allow us to target ads and measure their effectiveness.
– Meta cookies: allow us to analyze how users interact with our website and our advertisements.

8. RIGHTS RELATED TO PERSONAL DATA

The General Data Protection Regulation provides extensive rights to data subjects (individuals) regarding their personal data, and the responsible processor must ensure these rights are upheld through real actions. However, individuals cannot be deprived of control over their personal data.

Rights of the data subject:

1. Right to access personal data: You have the right to know what personal data we hold about you and how we process it, and the right to receive copies of your personal data.

2. Right to rectify personal data: You have the right to request the correction of inaccurate, incomplete, or incorrect personal data.

3. Right to withdraw consent for personal data processing: If personal data processing is based on consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent.

4. Right to erasure of personal data (“right to be forgotten”): You have the right to request the deletion of your personal data if it is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected, or if you withdraw your consent. We have the right to refuse deletion of personal data if the processing is necessary to comply with our legal obligations, for the preparation, submission, defense of legal claims, or for public interest reasons.

5. Right to restrict processing: You have the right, in certain cases, to prohibit or restrict the processing of your personal data for a certain period, for example, if you dispute the accuracy of the personal data.

6. Right to object: You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data if it is based on our legitimate interests or public interest. You can object to the processing of personal data for direct marketing purposes (e.g., sending newsletters) at any time, and we will immediately cease processing the data for these purposes.

7. Right to data portability: If the processing of your personal data is based on your consent and is carried out automatically, you have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format and transfer it to another data controller. You also have the right to request that the personal data be transferred directly to another data controller, where technically feasible.

8. Right to automated decision-making (including profiling): If decisions are made solely based on automated data processing, resulting in legal consequences or significantly affecting you, you have the right to request that decisions not be made solely based on automated data processing.

9. PROCEDURE IN CASE OF PERSONAL DATA BREACH

If you become aware of a personal data breach or the risk of such a breach, please notify us immediately at info@keepit.ee. We take the security of personal data seriously and will promptly respond to potential breach incidents.
